150MW! China Huadian Overseas Investment signs wind power project with Cambodia On June 26, 2025, China Huadian Overseas Investment Co., Ltd. signed an agreement with Indochina Wind Power in Cambodia for the Mondulkiri 150MW wind power project, marking a new stage of energy cooperation between China and Cambodia.
Similar to the promise made by the company, wind power could be integrated into the national grid by 2026, marking a new milestone in Cambodia’s energy policy. This clean energy source will contribute to a more diversified, low-cost, and sustainable energy supply, according to the Minister of Mines and Energy.
Keo Rattanak, Minister of Mines and Energy, recently stated that Cambodia’s energy sector has grown rapidly. From having no electricity in 1979, the country has expanded its network to cover 14,151 villages, reaching 99.88 percent of the nation by the end of 2023.
Vuthy said that Cambodia’s increasing industrial investment will need a growing electricity demand, particularly clean energy. He encouraged the company to execute the project and collaborate with relevant ministries and institutions to achieve high efficiency.
Responding to the commitment, HE Chea Vuthy acknowledged the surge in industrial investment in Cambodia, which has led to an increased demand for electricity, particularly from clean energy sources. He urged businesses to implement their investment projects effectively to meet this growing demand.
