Section 7 presents Suriname''s energy efficiency plan, which includes energy consumptions patterns and indicators, potential savings from energy efficiency and distributed generation
PARAMARIBO, Suriname, CMC – Suriname is on the brink of a severe power crisis as its hydroelectric power station faces reduced output due to critically low reservoir
Suriname is navigating a challenging phase in its energy transition. As of 2024, approximately 48% of the country''s electricity was generated from hydropower (754.5 GWh),
Hydropower accounts for 1,270 boe/day, while combustible renewables and waste account for 430 boe/day. The country imports approximately 300 boe/day of LPG, and 8,930 boe/day of oil products.
2011 The policy includes goals and strategies that will facilitate access to electricity for all, secure and sustainable energy supply using both renewable energy sources and fossil fuels, as well

Electricity can be generated in two main ways: by harnessing the heat from burning fuels or nuclear reactions in the form of steam (thermal power) or by capturing the energy of natural

2017 The Plan provides a framework for the policy programs and measures (inclusive of energy policies) between 2017 to 2021. 2016 The Act established the Energy Authority of Suriname for the regulation of the electricity supply sector and introduced renewable energy tenders allowing for the marketisation of renewable energy. 3.

The most significant energy source in the country is considered to be hydro-electricity, which was used in 2010 to supply 95% of its electricity generation . Notably, around 26% of Suriname’s total energy supply is generated through Lake Brokopondo’s hydropower system .
According to the graphs and reports from International Energy Agency (IEA) and International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Suriname does not have a strong renewables' sector at the moment. The country's production of electricity comes mainly from hydro power.
Notably, around 26% of Suriname’s total energy supply is generated through Lake Brokopondo’s hydropower system . A study that was carried out in 2014 has analyzed the Suriname’s energy matrix as indicated in the following figures.
Suriname's power sector consists of a number of individual power systems, of which some are interconnected . In the region of Paramaribo, electric power is supplied by means of: 180MW of hydroelectric power, supplying about 75% of the energy, and 66MW of diesel generation . Suriname's independent power systems are listed belowe:
Base station load and power module
Nepal base station power load
Suriname 5G base station transformation and power supply
Venezuela 5G communication base station hybrid power supply
Jordan Communication Base Station Wind Power Construction Plan
Marshall Islands communication base station grid-connected solar power generation brand
Mozambique 5G communication base station solar power generation system
The global solar folding container and energy storage container market is experiencing unprecedented growth, with portable and outdoor power demand increasing by over 400% in the past three years. Solar folding container solutions now account for approximately 50% of all new portable solar installations worldwide. North America leads with 45% market share, driven by emergency response needs and outdoor industry demand. Europe follows with 40% market share, where energy storage containers have provided reliable electricity for off-grid applications and remote operations. Asia-Pacific represents the fastest-growing region at 60% CAGR, with manufacturing innovations reducing solar folding container system prices by 30% annually. Emerging markets are adopting solar folding containers for disaster relief, outdoor events, and remote power, with typical payback periods of 1-3 years. Modern solar folding container installations now feature integrated systems with 15kW to 100kW capacity at costs below $1.80 per watt for complete portable energy solutions.
Technological advancements are dramatically improving outdoor power generation systems and off-grid energy storage performance while reducing operational costs for various applications. Next-generation solar folding containers have increased efficiency from 75% to over 95% in the past decade, while battery storage costs have decreased by 80% since 2010. Advanced energy management systems now optimize power distribution and load management across outdoor power systems, increasing operational efficiency by 40% compared to traditional generator systems. Smart monitoring systems provide real-time performance data and remote control capabilities, reducing operational costs by 50%. Battery storage integration allows outdoor power solutions to provide 24/7 reliable power and load optimization, increasing energy availability by 85-98%. These innovations have improved ROI significantly, with solar folding container projects typically achieving payback in 1-2 years and energy storage containers in 2-3 years depending on usage patterns and fuel cost savings. Recent pricing trends show standard solar folding containers (15kW-50kW) starting at $25,000 and large energy storage containers (100kWh-1MWh) from $50,000, with flexible financing options including rental agreements and power purchase arrangements available.
