In data collected between July 2022 and June 2024, China was reported to have had around 3.5 million 5G base stations installed across the country, with Chinese mobile operators investing heavily in 5G infrastructure. By comparison, the European Union had around 460,000 thousand base stations, while the United States had approximately 175,000.
The really big standout is India which seems to have blanked the country in 5G coverage within just the last 2 years. This contrasts strongly with it’s neighbours like Pakistan, Myanmar and even large parts (of mostly sparsely populated) China. Europe also has good coverage up until you reach Ukraine and Belarus and into Russia.
Indeed, it allows to follow the progressive deployment of 5G in the world, with always a notion of quality of associated coverage. However, it should be noted that certain areas where 5G has been detected are not necessarily commercially open. Indeed, beforehand, technical tests can be carried out by operators and their subcontractors.
The GSMA’s “Roadmaps for 5G Spectrum: Sub-Saharan Africa” report looks at the current mobile services and spectrum status. It also sets out a roadmap to help governments and regulators maximise the benefits of 5G in the region.
The report takes a closer look at 10 countries: Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Ethiopia, South Africa, Benin, Cameroon, DRC, Côte d’Ivoire, and Senegal. For each country, the report looks at the need for 5G spectrum to be made available, and the current status.
Regarding the collection of 5G measurements, it is done in the same way as for the previous technologies by our App users, with the difference that these users must of course be equipped with mobile and SIM card both 5G compatibleThese measurements are therefore carried out in real conditions, directly in the field.

The global solar folding container and energy storage container market is experiencing unprecedented growth, with portable and outdoor power demand increasing by over 400% in the past three years. Solar folding container solutions now account for approximately 50% of all new portable solar installations worldwide. North America leads with 45% market share, driven by emergency response needs and outdoor industry demand. Europe follows with 40% market share, where energy storage containers have provided reliable electricity for off-grid applications and remote operations. Asia-Pacific represents the fastest-growing region at 60% CAGR, with manufacturing innovations reducing solar folding container system prices by 30% annually. Emerging markets are adopting solar folding containers for disaster relief, outdoor events, and remote power, with typical payback periods of 1-3 years. Modern solar folding container installations now feature integrated systems with 15kW to 100kW capacity at costs below $1.80 per watt for complete portable energy solutions.
Technological advancements are dramatically improving outdoor power generation systems and off-grid energy storage performance while reducing operational costs for various applications. Next-generation solar folding containers have increased efficiency from 75% to over 95% in the past decade, while battery storage costs have decreased by 80% since 2010. Advanced energy management systems now optimize power distribution and load management across outdoor power systems, increasing operational efficiency by 40% compared to traditional generator systems. Smart monitoring systems provide real-time performance data and remote control capabilities, reducing operational costs by 50%. Battery storage integration allows outdoor power solutions to provide 24/7 reliable power and load optimization, increasing energy availability by 85-98%. These innovations have improved ROI significantly, with solar folding container projects typically achieving payback in 1-2 years and energy storage containers in 2-3 years depending on usage patterns and fuel cost savings. Recent pricing trends show standard solar folding containers (15kW-50kW) starting at $25,000 and large energy storage containers (100kWh-1MWh) from $50,000, with flexible financing options including rental agreements and power purchase arrangements available.
