Chinese solar, battery and EV manufacturer BYD has added a new production line to its solar module production facility in Campinas, in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo. The factory now has a capacity of 500 MW. It will produce new panels based on multi-busbar, half-cell, and 1/3 cut cell technologies, with power outputs ranging from 450 W to 670 W.
BYD originally only produced polysilicon panels, which are also known as multisilicon modules. But, like most manufacturers, it then began focusing on monocrystalline technology. BYD was also a pioneer of double glass panels, which have solar cells between two layers of glass instead of having a plastic backsheet.
BYD's photovoltaic energy solutions are applied in small, medium and large-scale solutions for residential, commercial, industrial, rural, investors, energy concessionaires, among others. BYD has a photovoltaic plant in Campinas (SP) dedicated to Research and Development (R&D) in Brazil.
