China produces 86% of the world’s solar panels each year, according to Germany’s Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems. In comparison, Europe and North America each produce around 2%. It therefore makes sense that eight of the world's nine largest solar manufacturers are based in China.
By 2023, N-type TOPCon and HJT technologies had taken centre stage, pushing certified outputs past 700W.
